Is CBD Oil the New Coconut Oil?

Is CBD Oil the New Coconut Oil?
Trends in the food and beauty industries tend to come and go, but one trend that has truly stood the test of time is coconut oil. For years, everyone from beauty bloggers to famous chefs has touted the benefits of eating coconut oil and using it on the skin, too. But, is there a new super ingredient in town that’s ready to dethrone coconut oil? Many people believe CBD oil has what it takes to become the new—and improved—coconut oil. Let’s take a look at the evidence:

Beauty benefits.

Coconut oil is known as an effective moisturizer that works well with all skin types. When applied to the skin, it can heal dry, flaky skin and also double as massage oil. Some women even swear by adding a few drops of coconut oil to shampoo or conditioner to protect and nourish hair. But, coconut oil isn’t the only product that has these incredible properties—CBD oil does, too!

There have been numerous studies that show how beneficial CBD oil can be for the skin and hair. One study, which was published in the journal of Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, found that CBD can help increase lipid production in the skin and manage chronic conditions such as dryness or severe acne. Another bonus of using CBD oil to moisturize your skin? It’s full of antioxidants, so you’re getting a moisturizer and anti-aging product with one application. Learn more about cannabis beauty benefits here.

CBD oil, which is found in Denver marijuana dispensaries, is also believed to stimulate hair growth and repair damaged hair. It is believed to reduce hair breakage, so when used regularly, you will notice your hair is thicker, healthier, and maybe even longer, too. If your scalp tends to dry out during the winter, you may want to consider adding CBD oil to your beauty routine to add moisture and protect the delicate skin on your scalp.

Cooking ingredient.

Both coconut and CBD oils are widely used as alternatives to traditional cooking oils. The former can improve digestion and relieve various stomach pains while also balancing the bacterial and fungal populations within the digestive system.

On the other hand, cannabis consumers all over the world use CBD oil to make their favorite edibles from the comfort of their own homes. Simply extract the CBD oil, mix it together with regular cooking oil, and the CBD oil is ready to use in your favorite recipe.

As you can see, coconut oil may have some major competition from CBD oil, which can also act both a beauty and cooking product. Although consumers may be hesitant to use a cannabis extract in their daily lives, the incredible benefits will help them get over this fear right away!

Denver Dispensary Tip: 5 Things You Should Know About CBD Oil

December 21, 2016

Denver Dispensary Tip: 5 Things You Should Know About CBD Oil
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is an active cannabinoid, and its oil form has been taking the market by storm. Retailers have been hit with an increased demand for CBD oil products from people who are intrigued by the buzz around this extract. But, what is CBD and why do people use these products? Here are 5 things you should know:

CBD is a main part of cannabis.

Along with THC, CBD is one of the main cannabinoids found in cannabis, accounting for about 40% of the plant’s extract. Although levels vary from plant to plant, typically there are much higher levels of THC than CBD in recreational marijuana found in weed shops in Denver, and higher levels of CBD than THC in medicinal marijuana. This is because CBD does not cause the same “high” feeling as THC and is therefore not desirable for recreational use.

CBD has medical benefits.

Not many studies have been conducted on humans, but based on initial studies done on animals, CBD is believed to have a wide range of medical benefits. CBD is believed to reduce nausea, inflammation, anxiety, depression, tumors, cancer cells, and psychosis disorders. Pharmaceutical companies in both the United States and the United Kingdom are currently working on new medications containing CBD to treat cancer and epilepsy. Learn more about CBD benefits.

It’s not psychoactive.

As previously mentioned, CBD oil does not produce the same high as THC products do. Because of this characteristic, CBD oil is sought after by people looking for medicinal benefits without the side effects of fatigue, drowsiness or paranoia that could come with recreational marijuana from weed shops in Denver. Although it has not been thoroughly tested, some initial studies show that CBD oil may be safe even at high doses because of how well the body can tolerate it.

It’s still illegal in some places.

Although weed shops in Denver can legally carry CBD oil, this product is still outlawed in many states across the country. People around the country believe CBD oil should be legal because of the many benefits it can provide to those who are suffering, but unfortunately, not every state is on board with this extract yet. Interestingly, some states that have not legalized medicinal marijuana have legalized CBD oil for medicinal use.

It comes in a variety of forms.

Retailers now have various forms of CBD oil products on their shelves. Typically, you can find CBD oil in a paste, capsule, liquid drop, spray or vapor form. The oil can be orally ingested in any of these forms, and is sometimes also created in a salve that can be applied topically, too. Because CBD is on the rise, it’s safe to assume that even more of these products will hit shelves soon.

If your loved ones don’t already have a nice lighter, consider getting one for them this holiday season. Choose a lighter that is windproof so your friend does not have to struggle next time he uses the lighter outdoors. Depending on your budget, you may be able to have the lighter engraved with a special message for your friend to remind him or her who bought the gift years from now.

Ashtray
Check out the style of your friend’s home and then find a decorative ashtray that will seamlessly blend in with the décor. Even if your friend already has an ashtray, you can never have too many when you are a regular marijuana user. This is a useful item that will also look great on display, so it’s the perfect gift for the marijuana users in your life.

Dixie Elixir Drink
If your friend already smokes and consumes edibles, why not introduce him or her to marijuana infused drinks, too? One of our favorites is the Dixie Elixir Drink, which comes in a variety of flavors including Peach Iced Tea, Sparkling Pomegranate, and Sparkling Blueberry. But, be sure to advise your friend to pace himself if this is his first time drinking a marijuana infused beverage. It’s important to start out slow when trying a new form of marijuana, so tell your friend to take a few sips and wait before chugging the whole drink down.

Denver Dispensary Tip: Guide to Making Cannabutter

Denver Dispensary Tip: Guide to Making Cannabutter
Are you planning on baking holiday cookies with a little something special added to the recipe this year? If you plan on doing any special cooking in the kitchen, one ingredient you will need to make is cannabutter. Here’s a guide on how to do so:

First, buy marijuana

Visit one of the many marijuana dispensaries in Denver and choose a strain of marijuana that works well in edibles. If you’re not sure which one you should choose, ask one of the budtenders for help with this decision.

Heat the cannabis

If you don’t allow your cannabis to go through decarboxylation, you won’t feel any of the desired effects of the THC cannabinoid once you eat the finished product. To ensure this doesn’t happen, place the cannabis on a baking sheet in a single layer and put it in the oven at 240 degrees Fahrenheit for around 35 minutes. Check every 10 minutes or so and turn the cannabis around on the baking sheet so that every inch of the substance is able to go through decarboxylation. When the process is complete, the cannabis will be dry and may begin to break down into smaller pieces when you touch it. What is decarboxylation? Find out here.

Boil the butter

Bring water to a boil on the stove and add one stick of butter for every ounce of marijuana you have available. Wait until the butter has completely melted before you throw in the crumbled marijuana and turn the temperature down to a low simmer. Unfortunately, now you will have to wait for about two hours while the cannabutter cooks.

Filter out the butter

After the two hours has passed, you will need to remove the pot from heat and put your finished product in a heat-safe container. However, you need to remove the crumbled pieces of marijuana, so use a colander or other straining tool so only the liquid is transferred into the container.

Let it cool

Place the container in your refrigerator and allow it to cool for about an hour. At the end of the hour, you will notice a butter-like substance forming at the top of the container. If this has formed, your cannabutter is cooled off and ready to be used. You may need to take a small spatula or butter knife and scrape the edges of the container in order to remove the butter and transfer it into another container for use.

Final note

This butter has now been infused with THC, and can be added to any recipes that call for butter. If you plan on serving your finished products to guests, make sure you inform them the item has been infused with cannabis so they are aware of what they’re eating.

Denver Dispensary Pro Tip: How to Choose the Right Edible

November 30, 2016

Denver Dispensary Pro Tip: How to Choose the Right Edible
If you’re new to the world of edibles, it’s important to take the time to choose the right one for you instead of grabbing the first package you see on the shelves. How do you know which edible to choose? Follow these tips from the Denver dispensary pros:

Dietary restrictions

Do you have any dietary restrictions? If you’re following a gluten-free, sugar-free, or vegan diet, chances are there will still be an edible for you at a Denver dispensary. Ask one of the budtenders to show you edibles that will fit within your diet.

Packaging

Make sure you’re buying from a trustworthy manufacturer by taking a close look at the packaging. If the packaging does not seem like it’s properly sealed, this is probably not a reliable product. If you have children at home, choose a package that is tough to get into so your kids don’t accidentally eat one of your edibles. It should also be clearly labeled with Colorado’s Universal Symbol for marijuana products. Learn more about cannabis packaging and labeling laws.

Figure out your goal

What kind of experience do you want to have after eating an edible? Figure this out before you go shopping for edibles so you can choose one that will help you reach your goal. Some people are looking for edibles that can help relieve general aches and pains, while others are more interested in finding a product that will help them relax and fall asleep. People who want pain relief will need a higher dose than those who are just trying to relax, so keep this in mind as you shop for edibles.

The strain of marijuana used in the edible will also impact what kind of experience you have, so it’s important to take this into consideration before you buy a product. It’s recommended that you choose edibles made with a sativa strain if you plan on taking them during the day, but an indica strain if you won’t eat them until nighttime. This is because sativa does not give you the same drowsy feeling as indica, so you can still go about your day after you have consumed edibles made with sativa marijuana.

Pull up reviews on your phone

Before you get to the dispensary, Google edible products’ names and search for customer reviews before making a purchase. Even if the product seems to have everything you’re looking for, it’s always best to see what other people are saying about it.

Dosing information

You should never buy an edible that doesn’t come with dosing information clearly printed on the label. This is especially true if this is your first time trying an edible, because you will need to be careful about how much you consume to avoid an unpleasant experience.
