Golden Goat: Hybrid Sativa Dominant Review

Golden Goat: Hybrid Sativa Dominant Review
Throughout all the weed shops in Denver, there are some strains that end up being obscurities in the greater scheme of medicinal and recreational marijuana; the strains that have yet to achieve greatness via Cannabis Cup ribbons and well-established street clout. Then there are some strains that have already become a pervasive name in any cannabis-smoking household. These are the strains your old go-to would say you were receiving even though they most likely had no clue as to the genetics. Then there are strains like Golden Goat; strains that transcend the hype and fleeting popularity in exchange for immortality in the pantheons of great weed.
  • The Genetics – Golden Goat is a super-hybrid, combining two Sativa strains with one Inidica. On the Sativa side, we have the classic Hawaiian, and the formidable Island Sweet Skunk. The latter of which is where the dominant and recognizable smell of Golden Goat comes from. On the Indica side of things, we have the ever-popular Romulan strain.
  • The Appearance – Generations of selective breeding have made Golden Goat one of the most recognizable marijuana strains on the market. This is saying something for a market oversaturated with hundreds of different strains. Robust orange hairs permeate through shimmering calyxes of a gorgeous, dense pale green. This makes the buds looks light and fluffy though they are anything but. Golden trichomes give “The Goat” as it is commonly called the first part of its name.
  • The Aroma – Poignantly pungent might be the most eloquent way of saying this is one overwhelmingly skunky-smelling cannabis. Because of the Island Sweet Skunk, the potency is of the aroma is only accentuated by its other Sativa dominant strain, Hawaiian. Expect the tanginess of pine from the Romulan to be mixed with a pleasantly sweet smell.
  • The High – It really all boils down to this aspect, doesn’t it? The smooth and rich flavor of Golden Goat is the precursor to one of the best strains of Sativa hybrid marijuana to grace the shelves of Altitude Dispensary. The Sativa effects will give you the burst of energy you need to get some chores done around the house. The addition of the Romulan as the Indica strain is a stroke of genius as it keeps the headiness that can accompany some Sativa strains.
  • Medicinal Effects – Golden Goat is highly recommended for stress, depression, chronic pain, fatigue, and headaches. It is considered to be one of the best “Happy Highs” of any strain on the market today. The only real side effects reported are the same with any high-quality bud in dry mouth.
Golden Goat is a zenith of Sativa dominant hybrid strains at Altitude Dispensary. It truly is a rare gem when you find a strain with effects, flavors, and smells on par with its aesthetics. However, in the case of Golden Goat, a marijuana strain doesn’t get any prettier or more potent. Contact us today to find out the availability of our Golden Goat selection.

Indica Strain Review: Animal Cookies

Indica Strain Review: Animal Cookies
Altitude the Dispensary, the best dispensaries in Denver, are considered the best because we have the most sought after marijuana strains in Denver. As such, we though it was time to start including reviews of our top sellers, as well as some of the other less known and newer strains to grace our shelves. This week, we’ll be reviewing one of the most potent Indica strains here at Altitude Dispensary – Animal Cookies.

  • The Genetics: Animal Cookies strain comes from Girl Scout Cookies crossed with Fire OG. These strains themselves are already cross-pollinations from other significant plants. The Girl Scout Cookie plant is a cross between Durban Poison and OG Kush, while the Fire OG is a cross of the ever-popular San Fernando Valley OG Kush, and the classic OG Kush. Just by looking at the plants involved in this indomitable weed, anyone can tell this a Kush bud through and through.
  • The Appearance: Animal Cookies is reminiscent of red wine set on orange fire in a field of mossy green goodness. It’s a bit burly, much like every other high potency Kush strain. If grown to full bloom, they should have something of a pinecone shape to it and be stickier than vegemite mixed with super glue. The trichomes on Animal Cookies are what makes for this very sticky bud.
  • The Aroma: Sweet with a slightly tart, sour bite on the exhale. Animal Cookies has a strong, earthy aroma, and should only be carried around in an airtight container. Take our word for it, if you let the smell out while you’re in public, bet on being followed around like you just passed a dog park with a pound of freshly cooked bacon in your pocket.
  • The High: Animal Cookies is a heavy Indy strain; an incredibly strong, potent strain of marijuana. This is not for the lightweight or even occasional consumer of medical or recreational pot. We highly recommend Animal Cookies for those suffering from chronic or debilitating pain and also for insomnia.

The Animal Cookies marijuana strain is for patients looking for a good medicine to help them with significant pain, those with trouble sleeping, and those who need a boost to their appetite. Animal Cookies assists patients dealing with ADD and ADHD, as well as severe anxiety disorders, asthma, gastrointestinal disorders like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and cancer.

With so many positive benefits of the Animal Cookies marijuana strain, it’s no wonder the medical and recreational customers here at Altitude Dispensary are talking about it and asking for it on a daily basis. In addition to the illnesses listed above, Animal Cookies will also make the user feel euphoric and happy. This characteristic is especially important for people dealing with anxiety and depression. Many patients and recreational smokers should definitely be considering this strain for regular use. Altitude Dispensary is here to serve all of your medical and recreation marijuana needs.

Keeping Your Denver Cannabis Fresh and Potent

December 22, 2015

Keeping Your Denver Cannabis Fresh and Potent
Growing up in the days of prohibition, there wasn’t a lot of information out there about how to keep your weed fresh. There also was rarely enough of the green stuff out there to keep for any kind of length of time. If there was any extra, it was put into a sandwich bag, licked, loosely sealed and thrown in the freezer until it was time to consume. Basically, it wasn’t about any kind of long-term storage and use of your pot because there was never enough to keep a healthy supply on hand. Things are different these days. With weed dispensaries in Denver like Altitude the Dispensary, certain strains that are favored more than others get scooped up whenever they’re available. As such, the desire to store some of the favorites for long periods of time have become commonplace, like keeping a good wine or champagne for special occasions.

Most marijuana is stored for no longer than a couple of months before it gets smoked or used in other ways (cooking, making hash oil, etc.). Kept at room temperature and using basic storage, that’s about the shelf life for decent pot as it is. Long-term storage of pot is not common. Well, it didn’t use to be, but the practice should be becoming more conventional as more and more states are taking the steps to legalize medicinal and recreational pot. But, if you’ve started finding those favorites at Altitude when they’re available, you might find yourself in need of better storage for the long haul.

The reasons for proper storage are varied:
  • THC Breaks Down Over Time – THC, the component in marijuana that gets you high, as well as the other cannabinoids in your pot start to break down as soon as the stalks are cut or the buds are picked from the branch. Both air and light speed up this process.
  • Moisture is Not a Friend – Your weed should be as dry as the Sahara. This means your cannabis should be cured and completely dried before storage or consumption is considered. Moisture promotes mold and spore growth in warm places. If there’s moisture and the storage is cold, frost can form on your weed and damage the buds significantly.
  • Heat is Bad – The best places to store your pot – as long as it is sealed, airtight, and bone dry – is the freezer or refrigerator. Heat and fluctuating temperatures will hasten the breakdown of your pot, leaving you with weakened, sorry green you wouldn’t wish on your enemies.
  • Light – When growing, marijuana plants need different hours of darkness and light in order to grow properly. After the buds have been plucked and trim, they mainly need dark to continue keeping their potency. It’s best to keep your pot in a darkened area whenever you aren’t using it.

To keep your Altitude the Dispensary medicinal or recreational marijuana as fresh as possible, make sure it has been cured as is dry as fall foliage, keep it in an airtight container, preferably vacuum sealed, and keep it in a cool, dry, dark place.

Dispensaries in Denver Dispel the Top Stoner Myths

Dispensaries in Denver Dispel the Top Stoner Myths
When the laws in Colorado changed to allow recreational smokers to come out into the light of day, many myths were quickly set ablaze. The best dispensary in Denver, Altitude Dispensary, has come up with a list of the biggest myths that have been dispelled this year:

  • Smoking Pot Makes People Lazy and Unmotivated: The shear success of the legal marijuana boom in Colorado has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt the old myth that pot smokers can’t get off the couch. The reason the stereotype exists is because there are a lot of people who sit on their couch all day and watch TV. Many people are under the impression it stifles ambition. However, like Melanie in Jackie Brown says, “Not if your ambition is to get high and watch TV all day.” Pot doesn’t make someone lazy or unmotivated – that person was already unmotivated and lazy to begin with.
  • Marijuana is Addictive: This has been one of the most untrue and harmful statements against the pot industry since the 70s. Study after study, and expert after expert have published findings stating unequivocally that there is nothing in marijuana that is addictive. There has not been one recorded case of a pot overdose or someone holding up a liquor store in order to score a dime bag of weed. It just simply does not happen.
  • Marijuana has No Medical Properties: Again, the list of states realizing and accepting the growing acceptance of the medical community’s pronouncements of the medical benefits to pot should be enough to put this myth to bed once and for all. There are actually too many of those benefits to list here. That’s a whole other post (or three or four). Serious illnesses, cancer, PTSD, anxiety, IBS, and hundreds of other ailments can be alleviated with marijuana. Most western medicine that comes in pill form end up causing much more harm than good. Just listing off the side effects of many pharmaceuticals is enough to scare anyone away from trying them.
  • Pot Equals Higher Crime Rates: One year after the legalization of pot in Colorado, a status report was released to give the facts about crime rates in Colorado. Violent crime in Denver was reduced by 2.2% in the first eleven months since legalization, burglaries dropped by 9.5%, and overall property crime decreased 8.9%. These are significant numbers after less than a year of full legalization – both medical and recreational in the state of Colorado.

Whenever someone doesn’t agree with something, they’ll make up all kinds of reasons and excuses to stifle change. The bogus accusations made against marijuana and the people who use cannabis have been slowly but surely debunked over the past two years. If you would like to partake in a perfectly legal and socially acceptable way to enjoy yourself, contact Altitude Dispensary today for the best bud you can find in the Denver area.

The FAQs on Topicals – Alternative Products at You Denver Dispensary

The FAQs on Topicals – Alternative Products at You Denver Dispensary
Topical marijuana products like lotions, salves, and oils provide an alternative use for those who don’t want to actually ingest it. There are great uses for topicals including muscular pain and discomfort as well as benefits for skin ailments like psoriasis or eczema. The use of topicals allows for the feeling of relief without any of the psychotropic effects of ingesting marijuana. Because these products cannot actually enter your bloodstream, they do not create the “high” feeling normally associated with marijuana. Here are the top five uses for topical marijuana products from the best dispensary in Denver:
  1. Arthritis: the pain associated with arthritis is caused by a number of things, one being inflammation of the joints. The typical lotions or rubs used for arthritis are different than others because of the need for inflammation relief. THC does not reduce inflammation alone, but if it is combined with active CBD – the properties combine to allow for inflammation reduction as well as pain relief.
  2. Muscle Fatigue & Pain: After a strenuous workout or activity like a sports game, a great way to relieve some of the muscle tension and soreness is by using a minty cooling salve or lotion. The coldness helps de-intensify the muscles and makes the activated area feel calmed and soothed. Strained muscles or tendons can use the opposite effect – heating topicals create a warm sensation on the area and can provide relief for high degrees of pain when applied directly.
  3. Headaches: Tension headaches can be soothed by applying oils and lotions directly to the area – allowing the area to relax and release the tension it holds. Using topicals to treat pain and discomfort is a great alternative for those either looking to stay away from pills or steroids or are intolerant to them.
  4. Skin Disorders: Another way topicals can be the alternative to steroids is for those suffering skin ailments or disorders like eczema or psoriasis. Instead of using a high-strength steroid, topicals can provide the same healing and repairing properties without any worry about overuse.
There are many other uses and conditions that could be managed and treated by using topical lotions and salves from your Denver dispensary – so stop in one of our locations today to speak to a budtender about what is right for you. We give every customer personalized service throughout their visit, and our budtenders can guide you through the process of finding a topical to suit your needs.
